ProcedureMRI brain with IV contrast recommended
SexF
Age65
Date24/10/2025
Finding(s)
Hemorrhage

Reason for the Scan

You had symptoms concerning for brain and covering infection (meningoencephalitis). The scan checks your brain for swelling, pressure, or bleeding.

Procedure Details

A head CT (special x-ray) was done without dye from skull base to top, using thin slices. No IV (through a vein) contrast was given.

Important Findings

  • Widespread lighter areas in deep brain wiring (white matter) on the left. This shows swelling and pressure.
  • The left brain pushes the middle line 1 cm to the right (midline shift), a sign of high pressure.
  • The left side fluid space (left lateral ventricle) is squeezed flat by swelling.
  • The brain grooves look narrowed (sulcal effacement), which also means swelling.
  • The border between gray thinking tissue and white wiring is still seen.
  • No bleeding around the brain or inside brain coverings was seen.
  • Deep control centers (gangliocapsular area), back of brain, and base brain areas look normal.
  • Skull bones, ear spaces, and face sinuses look normal for your age.

Conclusion

Your left brain shows strong swelling causing a 1 cm shift and squeezed fluid space. This needs urgent MRI with contrast to find the cause.

Note of Concern

Contact your doctor now or go to the emergency department today. You may need MRI with contrast, antibiotics or antivirals, and pressure treatment in the hospital. Go to the hospital now if you have worse headache, confusion, vomiting, sleepiness, weakness, seizures, or vision changes.
